Spring Meeting-Sunday, May 17, Troy, NH

16 02 2009

There’s just a wiff of spring in the air so it’s time to start thinking about getting together for our annual business meeting/spring kickoff.

Meeting date is Sunday, May 17th, this year we will be hosted by Dr. Custom Werx in Troy NH. Thank you Josh!

We moved the date to early May to accommodate trail drying and the trippers headed south. As with last year we will have a cookout and hopefully be wheeling the nearby trails as well.

I will updated with an agenda as it comes into play but the biggie will be electing or reelecting club officers and forming this year’s Fall Gathering Committee. EVERYONE is encouraged to get involved and if you are interested in running for office STEP RIGHT UP!

The long, cold, winter

17 01 2009

It’s been a long time since I last posted. The post-Fall Gathering weeks turn into bitter cold months and ‘wheeling tends to take a backseat for a lot of us. I’m going to be posting more as the season progresses and as we near Spring and the start of ‘wheeling season again.

A few notes:

  • Once again, Lane Noyes is stepping to the plate as YT Trail Planner and is putting together a list of Club runs and trail cuts for the spring, summer and fall. We will be focusing on the Swansey property again this year, with thousands of acres at our disposal, the trail possibilities are only limited by our manpower. We will be utilizing this area extensively for FG09. A full list will be forthcoming as it is finalized. THANK YOU LANE!
  • FG09 planning is already underway. It is critical this year that we sign up trailer leaders sooner and in larger numbers. We would like to be pre-running trials all summer so that leaders are fully versed in the areas they are leading come fall.
We will need a number of volunteers to work the sign-in tent, help organize events, solicit raffle prizes as well. Please contact me directly if you are interested (sporin@gmail.com)
  • Woody’s IH8MUD Tour will be joining us for FG09, and if the Toyota Trail Team is a go in 2009, they will be as well!
  • The club has made a substantial donation to the NEA from Fall Gathering proceeds. We have earmarked this specifically for the NEA Trails Fund. This money goes ONLY to local trail upgrades and maintenance.
  • We will be holding our yearly business meeting in late April this year, date and location TBD. Once again I strongly encourage those who are interested in leadership roles to run for office. Current BOD has been in place for a few years now and we strongly feel that NEW club leadership every few years is vital to a growing club. Fresh faces, fresh ideas, and fresh legs.

Well that’s it for now, I’ll be updating more in the days ahead. I am well aware that the current online roster list is out of date so Jason and I will be getting that in line. Until then, see you on Mud!

Donate to the NEA4WD

26 08 2008

The Northeast Association of 4WD Clubs is in its 7th year of solid growth.  We’ve gone from an idea in a guys garage to 22 some-odd clubs, thousands of members and access to thousands of acres of land to wheel on.  This is a local Association, this is you and me and a ton of other folks you see here hanging out donating their time to the sport.  This isn’t some high-brow national organization with tons of money and a marketing department.

Recently we’ve taken on two major projects that have sucked up literally all the money in the trails fund.  We cleaned up a landowners land in Central Mass who graciously lets us wheel on their properties, the dumpster rentals costed a chunk of change.  Secondly we’re building a 4×4 bridge (or bridges) on some newly acquired acres in Southern New Hampshire.  Some of you signed up for the Fall Crawl will have the chance to wheel this land for the first time.

Anyways, wheeling isn’t cheap, we all know that, but if you could find it in yourself to make even a small donation, a couple $5-$10 even, that would help out.  If we had everyone just donate $5 we’d be in great shape.  Please consider a donation to the trails fund if you got a few extra dollars in your paycheck in the coming weeks.

Here is a link to the site, paypal button, and the snail mail address:
Please make a note on your check or paypal that it is for the Trails Fund.

Thanks,
Paul Regish
